In 2015, RFS Holding has made a major step towards transforming the financial system behind the largest web shop in the Netherlands from an eighties mainframe to a component landscape. Wehkamp.nl has been running on a dynamical system that is built in an architecture which provides a large amount of flexibility, reliability, and processing speed. As a technical analyst and product owner Christian Kramer has been continuously involved in and responsible for the technical design, the architecture, the control and realisation of the new system, and the migration of the old system into the new system.
During the lecture Christian will use this case to take a closer look at the different aspects of such a process. What are the aspects involved in the design of such a system? How do you ensure that the system both seamlessly fits the old system, and provides countless new possibilities for the future? How do you guarantee this happens in a predictable, verifiable, and controllable way? And how do you make sure that such a system is brought live seamlessly in an organisation in which every day offline entails a huge income loss?
